Hello all,
Just to let you know that yet another minor release of Linuxha.net is
due out in the next 12-24 hours. Version 0.8.2 updates the version of
DRBD in use to 0.7.8 - the latest stable version of DRBD, as well
reversing the un-mount order of file systems, (useful if you want /a
and /a/b both to be clustered file systems!)
Another big change is that clstat, clform, clhalt and clrunapp will now
work even if the primary SSH path to the remote note is not available -
they probe for alternative SSH paths (via heartbeat IP addresses and
even DRBD IP address if necessary). The result is that they now function
in many network degraded conditions.
Finally the Application Event Monitoring sub-system (lems) has been
optimized in two ways - the monitor dispatch algorithm has been modified
and the underlying IP handling will now make use of Net::Interface if
available. The result is a large reduction in CPU utilization by this
process - much less than 1/2 of what it was for 0.8.1 and previous
versions.
Since much of this is due to Net::Interface Perl module a working
version of this module is also included and automatically built if not
currently installed.
Following this release 0.8.3 will probably arrive in about a week -
with working support for clmodapp (which is currently broken) -
including initial support for on-line resizing of clustered file
systems. Also improved configuration and handling of the locking daemon
will appear as well - since locking becomes quite important as soon as
more than one application is running on a node...
Regards,
Simon.
